She holds a Bachelor of Science (Psychology) and a Master of Counselling as well as further postgraduate studies in Fertility Counselling - a specialised area of counselling that requires a unique understanding and education.
In 2019, Fiona conducted a research thesis on Fertility-Related Quality of Life giving her valuable insight into the specific areas of life that can suffer during both primary and secondary infertility. Fiona is also a volunteer parent supporter with SANDS Australia (Miscarriage, Stillbirth, Neonatal Death Support), supporting bereaved parents at SANDS’ monthly support meetings. Fiona also works with some EAP (Employee Assistance Program) providers.
Along with a special interest for the fertility and perinatal field, Fiona offers general counselling services to support people along their journey of healing and growth. Many people are thriving in lots of other areas of their life but when life invariably throws a curveball, it can be beneficial to spend some time with a non-judgemental, understanding and compassionate professional who can help you to uncover valuable inner wisdom and answers. Fiona finds the counselling space full of purpose and hopes to have a meaningful impact in people’s lives.
Fiona offers a client-centered approach that draws on a variety of frameworks including internal family system, attachment theory, strengths based; compassion and emotion focused modalities. Working eclectically, she tailors her therapeutic approach to the client’s needs that includes traditional talk therapy and extends to creative and expressive therapies, such as, drawing, writing and symbol-work, as well as mindfulness and meditation. Fiona strives to create a warm and inviting space for her clients and offers both, face to face and telehealth sessions.
