The perinatal period includes preconception to parenthood
Fiona offers support during all these periods, including pregnancy after loss (PAL).
Pregnancy can bring about conflicting feelings such joy but also anxiety about the transition into parenthood. It's also to easy to feel guilty about such feelings and like the only one not enjoying pregnancy. There can be lots of reasons why you may feel disconnected with your growing baby. After lengthy fertility problems and pregnancy losses, a successfully-progressing pregnancy isn't necessarily a magic wand for all the anxiety that.
It can be a really long 9 months!
This is where a non-judgement, understanding counsellor can be a great source of support to help normalise these feelings. Just like antenatal classes, counselling prior to the baby's arrival is a wonderful investment for future parents.
These are some common anxieties that can be worked through with a supportive, non-judgmental mental health professional, experienced in the perinatal space.
Fiona is also experienced in providing non-directive pregnancy counselling around unplanned pregnancies.
It's okay to not love every minute of pregnancy and parenthood.
If you would like some support for the transition into the pregnancy and parenting space, Fiona from Sunshine Coast Counselling would love the chance to meet with you.
